Spark Tank

Spark Tank at
Dwight School Dubai

Spark Tank ignites student creativity and innovation through hands-on projects, workshops, competitions, and design experiences.

From mentorship in Spark Tank Club and skill-building in Spark Hour, to global challenges in Spark Events and creative exploration in Spark Lab, students of all ages are empowered to explore their passions, solve problems, and bring their ideas to life.

Spark Tank Projects

Spark Tank projects draw inspiration and support from the unique sparks of genius, passions,  and interests of our students.

During the weekly after school extra-curricular activity (ECA) – Spark Tank Club – students who have a new or existing project or idea can meet with Spark Tank mentors for guidance, support and feedback. Students can join the Spark Tank Club on their own or with a team of collaborators.

Spark Hour

Spark Hour is designed to inspire a student’s creativity, innovation and enterprise through a series of calendared workshops throughout the academic year.

Spark Events

Sparkathon is an annual Dwight Schools entrepreneurial competition that challenges students to solve a global problem with themes changing from year to year.

The aim is to give students the opportunity to delve deeper into conceptual thinking and develop their knowledge on technological advances that they might not otherwise be exposed to within the classroom. Over the course of the event, students engage and collaborate with those within the design studios as well as their counterparts across the various Dwight campuses. Students hone their design thinking, problem solving and presentation skills throughout Sparkathon.

Spark Day (during SPIRIT Week)
Students will engage in activities and projects that explore entrepreneurship, STEM and problem-solving.

Spark Lab

MakerSpace is a hands-on learning space where KG2 to Grade 4 students dive into exploration, design, and building using a variety of tools and materials. It sparks creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration. It provides students with opportunities to develop essential skills in designing, making, and problem-solving.

In MYP Design students (in Grades 6 to 10) develop a keen understanding of the design process through their MYP journey. By completing units centered around global issues and human interaction, students become exposed to the wider opportunities that good design affords consumers. As they embark on their design journey they are asked to first research / investigate the issues within the given briefs. From there they ideate and develop their designs.

The DP Product Design course is a 2 year programme undertaken by students in Grades 11 & 12. Throughout the 2 years, students delve deeper into what makes progressive, innovative design.
